DO YOU HAVE THE WINNING EDGE?

My husband and I mixed it up a bit last week and attended two college basketball games.  Both games were a ton of fun including half time competition, fantastic pep bands and proud alumni and fans cheering on their teams.  And, while both home teams won, one team clearly had the edge over the other.  What was it? They wanted it more.  They wanted to win passionately and you could see it in their play.  When they took the court, they owned the game with their speed and execution of play.  And, because they seemed to know their opponent’s strengths and weaknesses, they created advantages for their team.  When the visiting team was shooting the ball, the home team guys were right under the basket ready to grab the rebound.  When they were guarding their man, they looked like an octopus with arms everywhere to distract the opposing team and keep the ball away.
How about you?  Do you approach your career with speed and determination?  Do you know your product so well that you can create advantages with customers and potential customers because you can create a personalized program that will work for both the you and the client?  Do you have the passion to create the winning edge?
Let’s take a look at the advantages from both sides of the fence:
Speed and Determination:  From a client’s stand point, they know you’ll do your best to be efficient and they can feel that you want their business.  Who doesn’t want to go where a business is wanted and appreciated?  From your side, speed and determination can lead you to better tools and technologies to complete your job.  And, create more learning opportunities
Product Knowledge: From a client’s standpoint, the buck stops – with you!  You represent your company well, you know your product well, and working with you saves clients’ time because you are well researched.  From your side, you become the go to person for your clients’ as well as in house staff, and so can be creative with issues that may require some flexibility.
Passion:  You know what?  It’s just more fun to see someone loving what they do!  And that passion and excitement attracts more clients, resources, and sales.
So, this year, up your game!  You’ll have more fun and more sales - and isn’t everyone’s goal to get into the Final Four!
